How difficult is this race?

The race takes place over hilly terrain and this represents the main challenge. We encourage runners to adopt a hike/run approach if necessary, particularly as the majority of climbs are followed by flat or downhill sections.

Where can toilets be found at this event?

There are fixed toilet facilities onsite at Hughenden Manor.

How can I attend this event without a car?

High Wycombe train station is a 25 minute walk from our event base and is served by regular trains to/from London.

What footwear should I wear at this race?

Please wear trail running shoes for this race. The footpaths are generally good quality and should be relatively dry, but there are always sections of mud in the forest all year round.

What prizes are awarded at this event?

There are awards for the top three male and female finishers overall, along with age category awards for FV40, MV40, FV50, MV50, FV60, MV60, FV70, MV70.

How do I follow the route using my phone or watch?

Most GPS watches allow you to upload a GPX file of the route for you to follow whilst running. Typically this is done by loading the GPX file into the app (i.e Garmin Connect), and then syncing your phone/watch together. If you don't have a GPS watch we would recommend using OS Maps (£20/year) or Strava Premium (£48/year).

Do I need to qualify?

No, there are no qualifying standards required to enter this race. Entry is open to all runners aged 17 or over.

I'm worried about getting lost?

The route is fully marked with our orange arrow markers and ribbons, and marshals will be out on the course throughout.

Parking at Hughenden Manor is free for runners and included in your entry. Enter the estate via Valley Road and follow the track up to the car park, where a marshal will show you where to park. Please do not park at the church.

Yes, you can leave a small bag or jacket at the start/finish.

Are there aid stations on the route?

There are three aid stations, at around 7km, 12.5km and 16.6km, stocking water, Coke, Precision Fuel & Hydration gels and jelly babies.

Is there any mandatory kit?

There is no mandatory kit for this race, but we recommend wearing trail running shoes, carrying your mobile phone and loading the route onto your watch or phone for peace of mind.

Can I run with my dog?

No, dogs and canicross are not permitted at this race.

Is there food at the event?

Yes, there is a National Trust cafe on site at Hughenden Manor. Spectators are welcome at the start/finish and along the route.

Where can I find results and photos?

Live results are available immediately after the race on our website, and a selection of race photos will be available to download for free 24-48 hours after the event.

Join us for a scenic race through the beautiful grounds of the National Trust's Hughenden Manor and its surrounding woodlands.

Winding through the Hughenden Valley, the route features awesome woodland trails, and a few challenging hills to keep things interesting.

The route

Set in the beautiful countryside surrounding Hughenden Manor, the course follows a mixture of woodland and rural trails.

The route explores parts of Naphill, Bradenham and Hughenden, with a large majority of the route flowing forest paths, with plenty of undulation, but not many long or steep climbs. We would rate this course easier than both the Chiltern Ridge and Dunstable routes.

The ground is rough and uneven, trail running shoes are recommended.
